Ab initio molecular-dynamics simulation of liquid Ga-Ge alloys
We report the results of ab initio molecular-dynamics simulations of liquid Ga-Ge alloys at four different concentrations. The physical quantities studied include the partial structure factors, bond-angle distributions, self-diffusion coefficients, electronic density of states, and the electrical conductivity. The introduction of Ga causes a distinct reduction of the shoulder in the structure f...
متن کاملPhotolysis (A 185 nm) of Liquid Tetrahydropyran*
The main products of the 185 nm photolysis of neat liquid tetrahydropyran are pent-4en-l-ol (7) (0 = 0.40), 2-(5'-hydroxypentyl)tetrahydropyran (10) (0.21), valeraldehyde (6) (0.13), and pentan-l-ol (8) (0.08). These products are thought to be formed via the biradical '0(0112)40112, and/or through intramolecular (6, 7, 8) and intermolecular (10) photoreactions. In the case of 10, the probabilit...
متن کاملLiquid Carbon Reflectivity at 19 nm
We hereby report on a pump-probe reflectivity experiment conducted on amorphous carbon, using a 780 nm laser as a pump and a 19 nm FEL emission as probe. Measurements were performed at 50 degrees with respect to the surface normal to have an un-pumped reflectivity higher than 0.5%. A sub-10 fs time synchronization error could be obtained exploiting the nearly jitter-free capabilities of FERMI. ...
متن کاملCrystallization behavior and magnetic properties of Cu-containing Fe–Cr–Mo–Ga–P–C–B alloys
Multicomponent Fe65.5Cr4Mo4Ga4P12C5B5.5 amorphous alloy is known to have good soft magnetic properties combined with large glass-forming ability. Searching for a nanocrystalline structure that could improve its magnetic properties, Cr and Mo were partially substituted by Cu. The devitrification process of Cu-containing alloys shows an additional broad crystallization event that can be described...
متن کاملMagnetic domains in magnetostrictive Fe–Ga alloys
Lorentz microscopy was applied to the observation of magnetic domains in iron-gallium (Fe–Ga) alloys. Results did not show any link between the magnetic domains and the magnetostriction enhancement by Ga addition, but did reveal that the drastic decrease in magnetostriction for Fe–31.2 at. % Ga was due to the presence of large scale precipitates. Magnetic domain features did not change in the a...
